The two phones are manufactured by two different companies but both use the Android Marshmallow OS (Android 6.0). The main thing is that Android OS has captured the Mobile OS market (phones tablets) and Microsoft Windows 10 has to strive very hard to get there. Google's Project FI takes off. This has been in the works for long and now it is ready. Are you paying for set bulk rate for data from the likes of AT&T and Verizon? Well it worked but not for those who want to pay for what they use. Project Fi does it for you what AT&T and Verizon do not. It will even reimburse for data not used. Right now you ask to be invited to join the program but later it is for all who want it. The free software model starting with Android was a huge success and as Android is a global market leader for smart phones it will be easy to get them on to Project Fi. The seamless transition from cellular to Wi-Fi is a very attractive feature, a feature that all smart phone manufacturers should emulate. In order to serve the growing number of Indian users of Xiaomi, a new dedicated data center is planned to be opened in India in 2015. Xiaomi was storing Indian users' data on Servers in China but after receiving warning from Indian Air force they have decided to move out from servers in China. There are lots and lots of Apps. In fact there are over a couple of million Apps including all of the major brands, Apple, Google, Blackberry, Microsoft with Apple at the top and Microsoft in the bottom. But this is a growing market. The variety is truly bewildering, different size devices; different operating systems(OS); different programming languages;  and different orientations. Windows Phone 8.1 updates the present phone. According to rumor mill (not so unlikely rumor), Windows Phone 8.1 with Personal Digital Assistant Cortana should be available as early as April 2014. This may coincide with the build conference. Looks like Bing Search will be replaced by 'Cortana' for voice and text search, taking the battle a step nearer to Apple's 'Siri' and Google's NOW. MSFT has done lot of work with voice and I am not sure why they did not turn on this feature earlier. MSFT does not like to test water, unless a shark is swimming and a whale is shooting air. Anyway, good luck, it's never too late. Nokia appears to be working on the hardware side of the phone with mostly 007 related stuff like 'Goldfinger' a '3D touch' system(Industry first?) and 'Moneypenny' using onscreen keyboard. This deal will be one of several that Microsoft signed with others such as, Panasonic, Sony and Cannon (all Japanese). The motivation for RIMM ( http://us.blackberry.com/ ) is to be able to face Apple and Google squarely in the face and of course it aligns with Microsoft's wish as well. exFAT created for flash drives has better specs than the FAT system (which is not all that fat, could not stiffle the pun) in terms of file sizes (32 exabytes vs 32GB), formatting size, files in a directory limits all eliminated. Vista was not popular but exFAT was made its debut in Vista SP1.
