Google enters the phone hardware battle with its Pixel phones

Image
The field is full of actors having various kinds of difficulties from exploding phones to trembling hardware infected with 'touch disease'. Apart from the headline news of problems there is the underlying problem with 'Sales'. Google wants to take on Apple, if I go by some of the Internet sites. Microsoft has tried to enter smart phone market with a really good phone like Microsoft Lumia 950. It has not made any significant dent and can Google with similarly priced phones with very similar features do any better. OK, there is a better camera, so what? Google is also moving to AI-First from Mobile-First. Looks like it wants to one-up the Microsoft's Mobile-First slogan. Google phones were already in the market with the brand name Nexus made by Chinese and Korean manufacturers but now PIXEL is a Google branded phone made by HTC. Pre-ordering has started in many countries and you can pre-order at the Google site. The most significant feature of what makes...

Apple's focus moves to India

Image
With sales in China hampered by economy and somewhat by cheap look-alikes, Apple has shifted to a more stable market on the verge of blooming with an excellent demographic make up. Among the BRIC nations perhaps INDIA has the biggest opportunity of growth with a tech savvy PM. Apple has been having conversations with India to open Apple Stores. Apple has grown much faster than China, Korea and others.  Apple strong holds and is expected to grow even more. Perhaps Tim Cook's bet is not a bluff. http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/economy/indicators/apple-chief-tim-cook-bets-on-economic-reforms-in-india-says-smartphone-market-is-incredibly-great/articleshow/50743806.cms

Automobiles are changing in many different ways. All electric automobiles will enter main stream although right now they are still in their infancy. Hybrids like Toyota Prius will fill up the transitional period before going all electric like TESLA, Nissan Leaf, Mahindra Reva and others being developed in many parts of the world. Amazon's Holophone to make its debut

Image
Apple, Google watch out! You too Microsoft. Holophone is my concoction, but it is a phone that render 3D objects using perhaps 'Holograms'. It is not just a 3D phone but a phone with a new twist. Do you need 3D glasses, the answer appears to be no as it is not the run of the mill 3D rendering. Well, Amazon can sell it cheap and it can be at your door steps in a matter of days starting June 18! If the price is marked right, it could pose serious challenges. Transfer albums from iPad, iPhone etc effortlessly

Image
Sometimes you need to transfer photos or albums from your iPad to your Windows PC. You can find a number of Apps on Apple Store to do this. Most of them use some form of connectivity with WiFi being the most popular. Unfortunately you end up spending time reading manuals or troubleshooting information. Here is the easiest way of doing without downloading any APP but using the stuff you already should be having. There is only one step in this procedure: Y ou do not need anything other than what you should be having . Hook your iPad (firmware 7.0.4) connector's USB end to the Windows OS (Windows 7 x64 Ultimate)  computer's USB Drive (assume that the other end is connected to iPad). The Windows computer recognizes the connection and now click Start | Computer and you should be able to see your Apple iPad as shown. If you open the DCIM folder that is displayed when you double click Apple iPad in the above it will be empty. After sometime you get an iPad mess...

It all started with Sony Walkman

Image
Well It all started with Sony Walkman and now you have Smartlet . It is an accessory that lets you wear your iPhone on your wrist. It is not just a strap-on but lot more functional. It has a uni-directional locking mechanism that makes it slip-on, slip-off easily. iPhones are little awkward to carry and you can see lots of people fumbling in their handbags to take it out and now it is right on your wrist (I am sure you will remember it is there). Actually you may almost call it a wrist watch but that will be a little stretch. Get more details here: http://www.getsmartlet.com/ Here are some pictures from the smartlet site for my blog readers: You can wear it 3+ ways Let Siri do the talking
