Get going with Ractive.JS for your web pages


Ractive.JS consists of a UI library that works with templates. Ractive JS library transforms style, logic to highly interactive apps.

It has out of the box support for,

Powerful and extensible components,
two-way binding,
scoped CSS,
SVG support and
animations.

There are also plugins if the above are not sufficient.

It does not have a very steep learning curve like other frameworks.

It's origins are in the News media company, the Guardian. Originally used for producing News related applications where the demands and interactivity are very high.

Nice thing is,  you are not locked to it like other frameworks.

Just go to the cdnjs.com above and click. When you are in the libraries (https;//cdnjs.com/libraries) search for 'ractive', you get a whole lot of links to versions and others.

Deploying a Universal Windows Project to Lumia 950

We will be using the Lumia 950 as the connected device and it has been set to Developer Mode as described earlier. We start with the HelloWorld Universal Windows Project(UWP) that has been tested to run without errors on the Local Machine as described here. Open the project in Visual Studio 2017 as shown. UWP: Displaying formatted text in a TextBox Control

The entry you make in a text box control is of data type text and sometimes you need to format it as a currency with thousands separator while displaying. Also, if the number of decimal places you enter is more than 2, you need to round it up to 2 in the output. How do you code this in a UWP app? Create a UWP page starting from a Blank UWP project with three controls as shown. There are two text boxes and a button. You enter a number in the top textbox (txt1) and click the button, the formatted currency will be displayed in the bottom textbox(txt2). The app displays as shown. Now provide for a click event for the button and insert code as shown: Convert_1 The string entered in txt1 is converted to data-type double, it is then 'rounded'.
